N-Formylsaccharin
CAS 50978-45-5, Cat. No EN300-3553997
N-formylating reagent
N-Formylsaccharin is the reagent that is primarily used for the N-formylation of amines. The procedure is very simple and the reaction themselves is rapid with primary and secondary amines in THF at room temperature. The scope of the reaction is broad, as both aliphatic amines and anilines can be N-formylated. The reaction is chemoselective and prefers the amino group more than hydroxy. Other advantages of this reagent include no purification, no racemization of the formylated compounds, and the use of inexpensive and easily handled reagents.
